Data Report:
Principal Guymon reported on the new Citizenship Policy data received so far this year: Tardies and Attendance are at the lowest level in the past 6 years.
Review: Citizenship Policy (Update)
Principal Guymon reviewed the need for and process that was utilized for the new Citizenship Policy. A group of 5 teachers collaborated on the policy. They looked at state requirements and other sources when creating it. Although they understand citizenship is much more than attendance and work completion, they wanted the policy to have clear objectives and to be something that could be measured. The objectives chosen to focus on are:
Decrease students being late to class
Increase class attendance
Increase work completed in class by students.
The Council had several questions which Principal Guymon answered by reviewing and sharing the attached FAQ sheet
Review: Dress Appearance Expectations (Dress Code) Principal
Principal Guymon reported the response to the new policy has been good, students are meeting the expectations without much push back.
Question/Concerns from Council Members
Can the Citizenship Coordinator’s contact info be shared on the website?
Yes, that will be happening soon, along with a simple google form parents can use to work with him.
Are afterschool activities (ballgames, dances, etc) included in the Dress Appearance Expectations?
Yes, because a reminder was sent on short notice prior to the Homecoming Dance, it was not enforced to the level of expectation. Dance expectation will be revised slightly and notification will be given well in advance of next dance.
