Review and approval January 5th 2022 Minutes

Review: School Improvement Plan Y2022-2023:

Principal Guymon continued the discussion with the Council to determine greatest academic needs for the SIP for the upcoming year. He shared the results of the anonymous survey sent out to teachers, some of those ideas that would be eligible for Trustland funds included:

  • Incentives for students making academic progress
  • Hall Monitors
  • More ELL aides
  • Full time Therapist (also oversee Social Work Interns)
  • Paid Mentors for new teachers

Other ideas were suggested that do not align with the parameters for the funding.

Principal Guymon cautioned the Council about allocating a large portion of the funds to staffing because it is so hard to find people interested in the positions. Dan Kent agreed stating that it has been an ongoing problem for several years.

Discussion on the SIP Y2022-2023 will continue at the February Meeting.

Questions/Concerns from Council Members:

Council members questioned the effectiveness of Learning Academy, Principal Guymon surveyed anonymously the teachers participating in that program and 95.2% feel LND Trust money should be used to fund a 2022-2023 Learning Academy.

Motion to adjourn:

  • Sonia Cardena,
  • seconded by Jeff Reed
